¿ì²¥app recognizes the achievements and contributions of our Shareholders and Descendants through our annual Shareholder Awards Program.
Nomination Period & Eligibility
- The nomination period for our Annual Shareholder Awards Program typically opens in the first quarter of the year, with winners announced in the spring
- Nominees must be ¿ì²¥app Shareholders or Descendants who are currently living with no significant legal judgments
Award Categories
¿ì²¥app Culture Bearer
This award celebrates a Shareholder or Descendant who plays a significant role in preserving and promoting the arts. This can include involvement in theater, music, dance, painting, sculpture, storytelling, or as an administrator or preserver of ¿ì²¥app Region cultures.
Axel C. Johnson Distinguished Shareholder
Honoring those who go above and beyond to improve the lives of ¿ì²¥app Shareholders and Descendants. Contributions may include areas such as healthcare, environmental stewardship, subsistence practices, suicide prevention, and more.
¿ì²¥app Elder of the Year
Recognizing a Shareholder Elder who embodies the highest Native values. This individual has served as a leader, educator, and cultural preserver, making a lasting impact on ¿ì²¥app Shareholders and Descendants. Elders must be 65 years or older by the nomination deadline.
¿ì²¥app Youth/Educator of the Year
This award highlights the achievements of a Shareholder or Descendant committed to improving educational opportunities for Alaska Natives. Nominees may be involved in traditional or formal education, from preschool to postsecondary levels, and can include students, educators, and education-related professionals.
Raymond C. Christiansen Business of the Year
Recognizing a business owner or manager who demonstrates success and commitment to improving economic opportunities for ¿ì²¥app Shareholders and Descendants.
